When Ted discovered the Bitterroot Mushers hold an annual race at Gibbons Pass he set to work to offer our club radio services. It was between club meetings, but we managed to have 3 of us (Jim, Ted and me) work the event, and a couple of other members, Bob and Carol, were there because she takes photos for the newspapers every year.
This was my first ride on a snowmobile, too, out on the course to the spot where the 4-dog teams did their turnaround. There were 1 and 2 dog skijor participants, and 6 and 8 dog sled teams, too. Each had their own courses. There was also an event where the kids in attendance rode/drove a 2-dog sled up the hill a ways and then rode passenger back down the hill.
We met some terrific people at this event. The snowmobile and emergency rescue club were on the course, too. A local church group provided hot soups and great goodies for us to eat along with hot drinks a plenty.
Here are some photos.
